Installing Ikonboard community software

1. Download the latest IkonBoard from http://www.ikonboard.com/.

You need to register at their forum first before you can go to the free member area.

2. Un-zip the package to a dir under your web document root directory.

For example, if your web document root directory is c:\inetpub, make a sub directory such as c:\inetpub\ikonboard . Extract the 'Upload_Files' zip file you just downloaded to that folder so that you will have the following directories:

c:\inetpub\ikonboard\cgi-bin

It is strongly recommended that you extract the iB_html folder directly to the web root directory such as:

c:\inetpub\iB_html

3. Preparing for the run-time environment.

[ready] web server: The latest version of RaidenHTTPD.

[required] perl processor: You need to install ActivePerl + mysql dbi, which are included in the tutorial.

[required] mysql: The mysql is not included in RaidenHTTPD; you need to manually install it.

4. Create your database for IkonBoard.

You may start c:/mysql/bin/mysql.exe with the following steps:

C:\Mysql\bin>mysql -u root
Welcome to the MySQL monitor. Commands end with ; or \g.
Your MySQL connection id is 4 to server version: 3.23.58-max-nt

Type 'help;' or '\h' for help. Type '\c' to clear the buffer.

mysql> create database ikboard;

Query OK, 1 row affected (0.00 sec)

mysql>exit

5. Open an instance of Internet Explorer.

In the address bar, enter this url:

http://YOUR_SERVER_IP/ikonboard/cgi-bin/installer.cgi.

In this step, the installer will check your basic environment. Make sure your mysql DBI is installed.

Verify the paths and the url.

Now, the script will check your directories.

Select 'Extract files for me'.

Checking file structures and it should be ok so far.

Select mysql.

Enter the necessary login information and the database you just created, ikboard.

Now login with your administrator account.

Click on 'Admin CP'.

Under 'Category Control', click on 'Add New' to create a new category.

Under 'Forum Control', click on 'Add New' to create a new forum.

Now, it is all done. Your ikonboard is now at this URL of 'http://YOUR_SERVER_IP/ikonboard/cgi-bin/'. It would be the best to remove the installer.cgi now.
